If you can believe it, Netflix has canceled yet another fantasy series, but at least this one got a season 2

It's beyond a joke at this point as another one bites the dust.

It’s become one of the most morbid running jokes among Netflix subscribers that Welcome to Eden the latest to bite the dust.

One minor positive is that it did at least manage to score a renewal after dropping its first run of episodes in May of last year, with the sophomore season premiering on April 21. Clearly, the viewing figures haven’t been anywhere near strong enough to guarantee it a further stay of execution, with the website Fotogramas unveiling the bad news that Welcome to Eden has become the latest addition to a scrapheap that keeps on getting larger by the day.

Season 2 did manage to crack the Top 10 in more than 50 countries when it initially landed on the library, but that seems to be about as good as the numbers got. The premise boasted plenty of sun, sand, and sex with a group of young adults being invited to a party on a remote and mysterious island, which obviously was not what it seemed on the surface.

Lasting beyond its first season is a minor miracle in the realm of Netflix fantasy these days, a sliver of positivity for the Welcome to Eden fandom to hold onto as they prepare to bid farewell. At this stage, you’ve got to wonder why the company keeps dipping its toes into the genre’s waters so often when it almost always yields the exact same outcome, and dare we say it won’t be the last to say goodbye this summer.
