Here’s When You Can See Freddy Krueger Appear On The Goldbergs

Say what you want about 2010's remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, but I thought it was hardly the worst entry into the series. To be honest, I thought a lot of the hatred directed at it came because a percentage of moviegoers were simply unwilling to accept anyone other than Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger.

Well, if you’re in that boat, then you’ll probably be thrilled to hear that The Goldbergs. Though it’s not quite the way we had pictured his return as the Springwood Slasher, we’ll take it for the sake of nostalgia alone. I mean, why not?

Today, excitingly, the air date for said episode has been revealed, and it happens to be Wednesday, October 24th. In truth, this isn’t a bad idea at all because debuting it on Halloween night itself means risking a lot of people missing out because they won’t be at home.

In fact, it’s not uncommon for networks to air reruns on the evening of that holiday, so this was kind of to be expected. Regardless, such a pop culture coup could mean this installment going down as one of the series’ crowning achievements. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.

In the meantime, be sure to check out the official synopsis for the episode, which is titled “Mister Knifey-Hands”:

Despite Beverly’s wishes, Jackie’s parents allow Adam to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street and a disagreement between the families ensues. But Beverly dreams of facing off with horror icon Freddy Krueger (guest star Robert Englund), which teaches her an important lesson about her son’s relationship with Jackie. Meanwhile, Erica realizes she’s not as popular as she once was as she starts hanging out at William Penn Academy despite the fact she’s no longer a student there.
