While some of us might occasionally stumble upon luck in our daily lives, others — celebrities, that is — are fortunate and talented enough that they’re not only wealthy and loved by millions but even their unfortunate encounters with fate seem to end in the best possible ways.

Some people truly seem to have a little guardian angel ensuring that their brush with fate isn’t their last. Over the years, several famous stars have had their own encounters with misfortune and some of them came incredibly close to dying — and yet, they’re still here to tell the tale. With that being said, let’s take a look at some celebrities who have had close calls to death but managed to luck out at the very last moment.

Petra Nemcova

When we think of the 2004 tsunami that devastated the East coast of Asia, very few famous names come to mind, but Petra Nemcova is one of them. When the supermodel was working in Thailand for a shoot. She was caught on the beach by the powerful and deadly waves, alongside her boyfriend, but she managed to hold on to a palm tree for eight hours and survive. Sadly, her boyfriend was not so lucky, and he ed away that day.

Keith Richards

Unsurprisingly, the celebrity who truly flirts with the notion of death is none other than Rock-legend Keith Richards. Aside from surviving and overcoming a heroin addiction, Richards also survived a near-fatal fall from a coconut tree in 2006. Incredibly, that same week, he also crashed a jet ski, nearly facing death twice in just a few days. Richards has also spoken about having near-death experiences after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing his cars on more than one occasion.

Travis Barker

In 2008, the Blink-182 drummer found himself in one of the most traumatizing events imaginable when he boarded a Learjet 60 that crashed just after takeoff. Shortly after the jet departed, the group heard a loud bang, and the aircraft overran the end of the runway, bursting into flames. The pilot and co-pilot died from smoke inhalation, while engers Still Jr. and Baker died on impact. Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein survived with critical injuries from severe burns.

Ed Harris

Ed Harris’s story is one of many tales of on-set near-death experiences. It happened in 1989 while filming James Cameron’s The Abyss. According to IMDb, Harris nearly drowned during the underwater scenes when he had to hold his breath. When he signaled for oxygen, neither the safety diver nor a crew member were able to reach him, causing him to inhale water into his lungs. Thankfully, a cameraman managed to give Harris the regulator just in time.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Truth be told, Cumberbatch’s story isn’t particularly popular, but it is still absolutely harrowing nonetheless. During a trip to South Africa in 2004, the British actor and a few friends were held at gunpoint, forced to beg for ransom, and stuffed into the trunk of a car. According to Cumberbatch, he was screaming and kicking the entire time, and they were eventually left tied up with their shoelaces on the side of the road. We’re certainly glad he lived to tell the tale.

Jeremy Renner

Cumberbatch is not the only Marvel actor who has had an unfortunate brush with fate. In 2023, the Avengers actor Jeremy Renner had a near-fatal accident while using his snowcat to pull out a truck. As the snowcat started to roll toward his nephew, Renner, proving to be a real-life superhero, tried to jump on it to stop it but unfortunately missed. He ended up with 38 mangled bones and 14 broken ribs. Despite the severe injuries, he persevered and survived.

Seth MacFarlane

The brilliant mind behind American Dad and Family Guy is also one of the celebrities who, by a stroke of luck, managed to avoid death. Seth MacFarlane is among the few people who can recount the moment they were supposed to be on the flight that struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Fortunately, MacFarlane had a hangover, and his travel agent gave him the wrong departing time, causing him to miss the flight altogether.

Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford has survived not one, but two aircraft crashes, believe it or not. The first happened in 1999 when Ford, who was training to become a pilot, was forced to land the rotorcraft in a riverbed. He and the instructor survived, though the helicopter was severely damaged. The second crash came a year later, again with Ford at the controls. The aircraft was blown off the runway due to high winds, causing Ford to lose control and crash. Remarkably, Ford was once again uninjured.

David Spade

Unlike many of the entries on this list, David Spade’s brush with death wasn’t accidental or the result of a bad holiday. Spade was, in fact, the victim of a murder attempt by his own assistant. It happened in 2000 when his assistant, David Warren “Skippy” Malloy, broke into Spade’s apartment early in the morning and used a stun gun on the actor. Thankfully, Spade managed to escape and lock himself in the bathroom with a shotgun until the police arrived and arrested Malloy.

Emilia Clarke

During the filming of Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke suffered not one, but two aneurysms. The first occurred in 2011, leading to Clarke experiencing aphasia and difficulty speaking. The second aneurysm followed soon after, and during a preventative surgery, her brain hemorrhaged once again. Clarke not only survived both aneurysms but also recovered swiftly, defying the odds of survival and recovery rates for these incidents.

It’s not going to seem immediately important with regard to Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s new baby, but just go with it for a minute: What do you think of the number 13?

It’s fine, right? It’s prime. It’s the name of a movie about Evan Rachel Wood getting her tongue pierced. It is, according to Wikipedia, the “number following 12 and preceding 14,” and that’s crowdsourced expertise that you can trust. 

But to Blink-182 drummer and newly re-upped father Travis Barker, it’s so much more than that. It is, as he put it in an interview with Complex, “just the greatest number of all time.” Argue if you want, but can you play the drum solo on “What’s My Age Again?” Didn’t think so. And as the authority—and, more poignantly, the biological father of a newborn—Barker got first dibs on naming the child that he and Kourtney Kardashian just welcomed into the world: a little boy who goes by the moniker of Rocky Thirteen Barker. People confirmed the birth of the couple’s first genetic collaboration on November 4, 2023. They have six children total, including previous relationships.

The name “Rocky Thirteen” is more than just an aspirational chant that Sylvester Stallone has stenciled across his dream board. Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian, wife of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, recently underwent emergency fetal surgery to save the life of the couple’s baby. Barker postponed the band’s European dates to attend to an “urgent family matter,” and Kardashian shed more light on the incident on Instagram.

“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” she wrote on the social media site.

Kardashian also said that she had “three really easy pregnancies in the past” and wasn’t “prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery.”

She explained that unless it’s something you’ve gone through personally, it’s impossible to “understand that feeling of fear.”

“I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant,” she said.

Fortunately for all involved, everything worked out and the baby boy was saved and the mom is healthy.

“Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”

Blink-182 released a statement about how it would have to postpone concerts in Dublin, Belfast, and Glasgow.

“Due to an urgent family matter, Travis has had to return home to the States. The Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin shows are being postponed. More information in regards to his return to Europe and rescheduled dates will be provided as soon as available,” the statement said.

Kardashian’s Instagram post puts to bed the rampant speculation about why the tour was cancelled and what exactly was happening with the “urgent family matter.” Barker fueled the speculation by posting photos of a stained-glass window and prayer rooms on his Instagram story.

Kardashian famously announced the pregnancy back in June with a sign at a Blink concert that said “Travis I’m Pregnant,” a nod to the band’s 1999 video for the popular song “All The Small Things.”

Kardashian has three children with ex Scott Disick: Mason, 14, Penelope, 11 and Reign, 9. Barker has two children with ex Shanna Moakler: Landon, 19, and Alabama, 17. He’s also a stepdad to Atiana from Moakler’s previous marriage.

The band posted on X (Twitter) on Sept. 1 announcing that Travis had to urgently return home to the United States “due to an urgent family matter.”

Though the announcements made no reference to specifics, fans are speculating that Barker’s urgent family matter might be related to Kourtney’s pregnancy, since the timing of the emergency lines up with her pregnancy timeline. A day before the announcement, Travis also posted photos of prayer rooms and a stained-glass window on his Instagram story, adding fuel to the fire.

While some fans believe that Kourtney might have gone into labor, others are concerned for her and her child’s health, as it seems a bit early for her to go into labor. So, when exactly is Kourtney Kardashian due to give birth?

How many months into her pregnancy is Kourtney Kardashian?

Kourtney first publicly announced her pregnancy on June 17, 2023, at one of Blink-182’s concerts, holding up a sign to her husband that read “Travis I’m Pregnant.” In the video posted by the couple, Kourtney already had quite the baby bump. On June 25, the duo also revealed the sex of their child in an Instagram video where blue streamers exploded into the air and the couple was seen kissing and embracing in happiness.

Since then, Kourtney has made countless public appearances while flaunting her growing baby bulge. Her most recent Instagram post, which was made a week ago, featured images of a huge flower field with the caption “One month.” Fans couldn’t help but wonder if the caption had a secret meaning hinting towards her due date, even though it appears to be tied to the Halloween celebrations.

As apparent in her Instagram pictures, Kourtney has a prominent baby bump now, appearing prepped to bring her first child with Travis into the world soon. She may be close to eight months along in her pregnancy at this point, and her due date can be any time between late September and early October.

Kourtney is currently a loving mother to three children with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, named Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 9. Blink-182 fans in Europe are devastated after the band shared they’d be postponing their tour. An announcement on the band’s Instagram page stated that Travis Barker had to return home to handle a family emergency, and that they’d reschedule performances. The statement read:

Many fans believe Blink-182 put their tour on hold because Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, is in labor. She announced her pregnancy in mid-June at the band’s concert in Los Angeles by holding up a sign that read, “Travis, I’m pregnant!” The nod to the band’s “All The Small Things” music video was not lost on fans. 

While the reality star never publicly shared her due date, based on the size of her bump, the couple’s baby boy will likely come this fall. However, Kourtney shared some fall-themed photos to Instagram on Aug. 25 with the caption, “one month,” leading many to believe she’s due Oct. 25. It’s possible she went into labor a few weeks early, and Barker is at the hospital patiently awaiting the arrival of their newborn!

Travis Barker’s ex ruled out their children

With Barker and Kourtney having extensive family ties, it’s also possible the emergency is linked to someone else. The drummer’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, helped to narrow down the possibilities by sharing that their children are all safe. According to Perez Hilton, Barker’s emergency isn’t related to their children Alabama Barker, Landon Barker, or Atiana De La Hoya. 

While Moakler doesn’t know what her ex is going through, she is praying for him and Kourtney.

“Whenever they have to cancel shows it’s a really big deal. I’m just praying that his immediate family and the baby and Kourtney and everyone is safe and okay, and I’ll be sending my prayers and well wishes.”

It looks like we’ll all just have to wait and see what happens!

Sylvester Stallone — who was not involved in Creed III — definitely will not be involved in Rocky 13, either. However, it won’t surprise you when you realize what I’m really referring to.

Travis Barker, long-time drummer for Blink-182, was surprised by his wife Kourtney Kardashian last month at one of his concerts because — while he was on stage — she held up a sign that read, “Travis, I’m pregnant.”

Barker and his teenage daughter Alabama sat down to answer random questions for a video posted by Complex magazine on Tuesday. One of the questions was about the best possible baby names.

Travis, to his daughter’s discontent, answered, “I like Rocky 13.” He itted it’s a bad name but stuck to his fondness of it, though he tried to justify the name by explaining, “Rocky George played guitar for Suicidal Tendencies and thirteen is just the best number of all-time.”

Alabama, whose name is numberless and wants her brother’s to also be without digits, asked, “So, you’re going to name your kid Rocky 13?”

His answer? “Possibly.”

You would think if Barker were to name his kid partially with a number that it would be after his band, thus he would be named Rocky-182.

Barker, who it can be deduced is expecting his first child with Kourtney around the holidays, further stated that “Rocky is the greatest boxing movie of all-time.”

I think that Seven Samurai is the greatest martial arts film of all-time but I won’t be calling my future kid that. Besides, it would be intimidating for me if he gets in trouble and I call out his full name, “Hey! Seven Samurai! Get over here, now!” I feel like I don’t want to ever yell those words. Though, when I send him to his room for being bad, it could be very ego-boosting to brag to people the next day by saying, “Yesterday I punished Seven Samurai.”

Enough about my imaginary kid and on to more important things, like the Rocky movie series that Travis 13 speaks of.

The funny thing is that there is a really good chance that we will actually see a thirteenth film in the Rocky series at some point. Stallone made six Rocky movies, the last one was simply named Rocky Balboa, presumably because he lost count. Then Ryan Coogler made Creed, which is really the seventh film in the overall series and co-stars Sylvester Stallone as a trainer to Adonis Creed played by Michael B. Jordan. Since then, two more Creed films have been made, it’s likely that there will also be a fourth, and it’s reported that a Drago film based on a character from the Creed series — the son of Drago from Rocky IV — will soon be in the works.

So, that means we would have the tenth and eleventh films of the series, respectively. Jordan also hinted at making six total Creed films to match the number of films originally made about Rocky, which means that two more films would indeed make it a total of 13.

Since they likely won’t call that potential movie Rocky 13, then maybe Travis can consider renaming his son Creed VI. For the sake of the kid, however, I hope he names him without a number. Maybe just Rocky, or Creed, but hopefully not Blink.

The power couple, the beautiful socialite and the rocking drummer, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker started dating back in 2021 and just recently got married in May of last year. What news could they possibly have to top all that?

Kourtney and Travis have known each other for years, living in the same Calabasas community and everything. That’s right! The couple is pregnant. Just like the girl in blink-182’s “All the Same Things” video, Kourtney raised a sign that told Travis that after trying to have a baby for so long, they can finally celebrate the arrival of the newest addition to their family. Of course, this particular moment was splashed across the big screens so that everyone could see it and scream for their favorite couple even louder.

The couple’s journey to get pregnant has been well-documented on the new Hulu series The Kardashians. They had been trying to get pregnant through in-vitro fertilization but have since changed their mind as they decided that they will stop trying to temper with fate.

“We are officially done with IVF. We would love a baby more than anything, but I really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby, I believe it will happen.”

Well, they don’t have to try any longer and now the wait begins for the baby to get here. But having the pitter-patter of little feet around the house is nothing new to either one of them. Kourtney has three kids — Mason (13), Penelope (10), and Reign (8). Travis is also a father to three kids — Landon, who is 19, Alabama who is 17, and also maintains his relationship with his 24-year-old stepdaughter, Atiana, with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

And as for the fans, they can’t decide whether they focus on celebrating the big news or hold on to their heart that is melting over how Kourtney made the revelation.

Given this latest development, it is time to get ready for cuteness overload in season four of The Kardashians as given the life of its titular stars, the yet-to-be-born baby is already destined to grow up in front of the camera (no matter how many times they change the name of the show).

Reality TV stars Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian dressed up as two of the spookiest horror movie characters of the last two decades for Halloween.

Barker posted three photos of himself and his wife in costume on his Instagram profile and shared a creepy quote from the film, “Hi, I’m Chucky, your friend till the end.”

Propped up in front of a fireplace and sweepingly holding hands, the pair were dead ringers for the infamously homicidal dolls from the Child’s Play franchise. Barker was dressed as Chucky in a bright red wig and denim overalls, with a knife prop in hand while Kardashian was clad as the Bride of Chucky, complete with a blonde wig, bridal attire, and an edgy black leather jacket.

Kardashian posted a photo of herself and her husband in costume to her 203 million Instagram followers with a playfully scary caption that read, “You got your wish. You’re mine now doll. And if you know what’s good for you, you are going to love, honor, and obey!”

Charles Lee Ray/Chucky was voiced by Brad Dourif in the original Child’s Play trilogy as well as the follow-up films Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017). He also shared vocal credit for the character with the legendary Mark Hamill (Star Wars) in a reboot of the original Child’s Play movie in 2019. Jennifer Tilly portrayed and voiced Tiffany Valentine/Bride of Chucky in all of the Child’s Play films released between 1998 and 2019.

The rumors are true! Blink-182 announced on Tuesday that the band is reuniting with Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker for the first time in nearly a decade after DeLonge had previously left to chase UFOs. And the guys are back with their biggest world tour yet, with a brand new single dropping later this week.

The Live Nation-produced tour will kick off in March 2023, with Blink-182’s first performances in Latin America, followed by dates in North America, Europe, Australia, and finally, New Zealand, through February of 2024. And naturally, they announced the big tour with a minute-long YouTube video featuring a handful of the band’s primarily now middle-aged fans gushing about how excited they would be for Blink-182 “coming” to them.

“We would do anything to make them come,” says one woman, gardening alongside her husband. “That’s right honey, anything,” her husband adds, looking unsettlingly into the camera.

The tour will also hit a few major festivals, including 2023’s Lollapalooza alongside co-headliners Billie Eilish and Drake, as well as the 2023 edition of We Were Young music festival with Green Day.

In addition to the tour, the trio have also gotten back to the recording studio for the first time in a decade, and is dropping their new single, “Edging” on Friday, Oct. 14.

After DeLonge left the band to found his aerospace, science, and entertainment company To the Stars … Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2015, he was replaced by Alkaline Trio guitarist Matt Skiba. The band took another hit in June of 2021 when Hoppus revealed that he was in treatment for cancer, but announced that he was cancer-free later that year and would continue bi-annual screenings.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, Oct. 17 on the band’s website, blink182.com, and will likely sell out faster than you can say “What’s My Age Again?” — which you might actually be asking yourself buying tickets to see Blink-182 in 2022.

Travis Barker has reportedly been hospitalized with pancreatitis following a mysterious health scare that his daughter Alabama shared in a since-deleted Instagram post on Tuesday. The Blink-182 drummer also cryptically tweeted “God save me” earlier that day before the news broke.

According to TMZ, the inflammatory disease was allegedly triggered by a colonoscopy, though it’s unclear if Barker was experiencing issues that led to the procedure. After all, the American Cancer Society does recommend that colorectal cancer screenings begin at age 45, and Barker is now at the ripe old age of 46.

“Multiple sources connected to the family tell TMZ … Travis’ Tuesday hospitalization was a result of the condition — which is an inflammation of the pancreas — and includes symptoms like nausea, intense stomach pain and vomiting. We were not told precisely when Travis had the colonoscopy, but we’re told it was recent.”

Barker’s wife of just one month, Kourtney Kardashian, reportedly took her new husband to West Hills hospital near their home Tuesday morning before he was transported to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles by ambulance.

If Barker is experiencing acute pancreatitis, the sudden inflammation tends to last for only a short amount of time before the organ returns to normal. However, chronic pancreatitis can cause long-lasting inflammation and permanent damage to the pancreas. And while, unfortunately, pancreatitis can’t be cured, it can be treated with diet and lifestyle changes and medication.

Travis Barker, blink-182 drummer and husband of Kourtney Kardashian, has reportedly been hospitalized.

As reported by TMZ, the 46-year-old was taken to Los Angeles’ West Hills hospital on Tuesday morning for a health issue. However, the issue apparently required further medical help, as he was then escorted by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Kardashian accompanied her husband throughout the ordeal.

While no details about the issue are known publicly at the time of writing, Barker’s daughter, Alabama, took to social media asking for fans to send their prayers.

Since this initial story, no further posts have been made by Alabama.
