‘How is this legal?’: LAPD thugs casually shoot harmless woman trying to get home

"How was shooting her necessary!?"

On paper, the far right’s nightmares have become reality. Armed soldiers stalk the streets, children are being targeted in schools, an official curfew is in place in a major city, the President is trampling over states’ rights, and due process is a thing of the past.

But in a darkly ironic twist, because Donald Trump is doing all this, conservatives think everything’s just peachy. But, to anyone with functioning senses and a working brain, it’s pretty darn obvious the United States is currently heading down an extraordinarily dark and ominous road.

Chronicling every ongoing abuse of government power and how innocent citizens are being abused is impossible, but sometimes individual incidents stand out. Take this footage from Los Angeles last night:

A woman is casually walking home when she finds the street blocked by a line of cops. She talks to them from a distance and is clearly presenting no threat to them in any way. A cop then casually raises his weapon and shoots her with a non-lethal round.

Out of control cops

Being hit with a non-lethal round may not necessarily kill you, but anyone who’s experienced it will testify that it’s no joke. Over the last days, L.A. hospitals have been inundated with people with serious injuries from their rubber bullets, with a photojournalist hit by one having to undergo emergency surgery.

We can’t know the cops’ orders, but it certainly seems like there’s a “shoot first, ask questions later” policy in place. And, to be frank, most of the time they’re not even bothering with the questions afterwards. Cops opening fire on random people walking down the street who aren’t presenting even a remote threat to you should scare you, as it speaks to an air of invincibility that comes with knowing for sure they’ll never face consequences.

If you’re a conservative and still feel the urge to cheer on these violent cops, you’re a hypocrite – this is the exact kind of state overreach and tyranny you guys have been wailing about for decades. Everything you feared is now here, but rather than “don’t tread on me”, it’s more like “please, Sir may I lick the other boot too?”.
