James Gunn confirms the project that’ll come on the heels of ‘Superman: Legacy’

Don't worry, it's a fan-favorite.

James Gunn should be taking a break after delivering what was arguably the best MCU movie to come out in quite a few years, but the new DCU boss doesn’t seem to tire of outlining his plans for the future of superhero media in live-action.

When Gunn isn’t promoting The Flash in a last perfunctory attempt to help give it a fighting chance at the box office, he is usually busy discussing the future of DC with fans on social media. That itself comes in two forms; debunking wild speculation, and laying down little breadcrumbs for the most enthused to chew on.

So, I guess what he recently revealed on Michael Rosenbaum’s YouTube podcast can be categorized as the latter. When asked whether John Cena’s Peacemaker is coming back, Gunn said:

“No, Peacemaker is coming back right after Superman. That’s my next thing. [I’ll] go straight from Superman to Peacemaker.”

So, there you have it, folks. While Peacemaker isn’t necessarily going to be the next DCU project to arrive after Superman: Legacy, it’s going to be Gunn’s next personal venture. And who knows? With all the pieces of the puzzle already in place, making the next season of Peacemaker is going to be a walk in the park for Gunn, at least in comparison to the rest of the balls he’s juggling at the moment.

It must be an incredible amount of work — crippling, even. During the podcast, the director told Rosenbaum that he initially didn’t want to accept this stupefying job offer, but when Peter Safran — who has been Gunn’s manager for more than a decade — also ed the equation, the prospects of turning into a Kevin Feige in his own right didn’t appear as intimidating as before.

Let’s hope that he manages to do as good a job as his MCU counterpart has done over these long years.
