Emily Blunt’s career plans can hopefully stick a fork in those ‘Fantastic Four’ rumors for good

For the upteenth time, she's not going to be Invisible Woman.

Margot Robbie and Vanessa Kirby may be dominating the MCU’s Invisible Woman rumors these days, but there’s always going to be room in fan-casters’ hearts for Emily Blunt, even if she’s been clear on she doesn’t really want to be there.

Indeed, when John Krasinski was the fan favorite for Mister Fantastic, a role he would have wound up reprising from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had it happened, it wasn’t much of a leap before the conversation wandered to the possibility of Blunt’s taking on the role of his onscreen wife.

In any case, if there were still any Blunt hopefuls lurking on Twitter, the Oppenheimer star has indirectly quashed remaining hopes once and for all. In an interview on Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi, the actress revealed that work was out of the question for 2023, citing her desire to spend more time with her children as her reason for the break.

“This year, I’m not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little. And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch.”

That said, we know Fantastic Four doesn’t begin shooting until January 2024, so Blunt’s time away from the various sets of the world wouldn’t technically coincide with work on the heavily anticipated Marvel project anyway. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that the actress wouldn’t immediately switch back into work mode as soon as 2024 hits, and even if she did, the fact that she’s been adamant about not being Invisible Woman so many times before should be more than enough to keep the rumors dead in the water.

Fantastic Four will release to theaters on May 2, 2025.
